XMLHttpRequest to Improve Client-Side Web Applications

The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) has published the object specification to develop standard APIs for client-side Web Application development. W3C Web API Working Group aims at developing specifications to improve client-side application development on the Web.

The specification describes the exchange of data between the client and server sent via script engine, with the data in a text-based format (XML) or via HTTP and HTTPS. It includes both documenting existing APIs such as XMLHttpRequest and developing new APIs in order to enable richer web applications.

Comments on the draft can be submitted until the beginning of June 2008 at public-webapi@w3.org.
