Sun Says Java-run Mobiles to Drive GrowthSun Microsystems CEO Jonathan Schwartz says that consumer cell phones on the Java software platform will drive demand for Sun servers in developing countries. "There is a power shift that has occurred. The marketplace is going to be defined by the consuming public as much as by the traditional IT decision-maker," Schwartz said.
Sun developed Java, a software that is now used in most phones worldwide than anyother software. In fact Java has seen a resurgence of sort of late. According to Sun about 1.2 billion mobile phones use Java to enable online services such as banking, gaming, instant messaging and video streaming. A Reuters report says Sun considers India, China, Brazil and Russia as the key market for Java enabled phones. These four countries are the fastest growing mobile markets today. |
